Many people seducer from corns at some point in their life. A corn is a callus that forms on the foot from repetitive friction or pressure. Corns are most commonly found on the top of the toe or under the foot. While they can be painful, corns are usually not a serious problem and can be treated at home.
There are a few different ways to treat corns at home. One way is to soak the foot in warm water for 10-15 minutes. This will help to soften the corn and make it easier to remove. Another way is to use a pumice stone or callus remover to gently rub the corn away. Be sure to use these tools carefully so that you do not damage the skin around the corn.
If home treatment does not work, or if the corn is causing a lot of pain, you may need to see a doctor. The doctor can prescribe medication to help relieve pain and inflammation. In some cases, the doctor may also need to remove the corn surgically.
In our office our protocol for corns is as follows:
-If the corn is small and not causing pain we will recommend home treatment and re-evaluation in 2 weeks.
-If the corn is large or causing pain, we will refer to the podiatrist.
Corns can be a painful nuisance, but with the right treatment they can be easily taken care of. Be sure to see a doctor if home treatment does not work so that the problem does not get worse.
